New farm bill laws are an option, not compulsion for farmers
New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed Lok Sabha on Wednesday and clarified his government’s stand for the new farm bill that has been a reason of violent protests by farmers across Delhi borders in past few months.
He once again affirmed that nothing has changed with the new farm bills; instead, it has only created an option for the farmer to get better income from his crop.
PM Narendra Modi also mentioned that he is unable to understand the reason behind such protest. A protest is valid if something is being changed in old policies and a compulsory action is being imposed; but when nothing is getting changed and only a new option is being provided then what is the base of the protest.
"Those who wish to sell their crop as per new bill can do that and those who wish to choose the old ways, they are available. Nothing has been scrapped, mandis are there, MSP is there," said PM Modi in his address.
He also mentioned that is the politics of spreading rumours and false perception which has trapped the innocent farmers who are protesting in the chilling weather.
PM Modi also questioned that when the law was passed and implemented, can anyone tell if any of the older methods were stopped or scrapped with the new laws? The only new option was given to the farmers and such options should be available for proper growth of the agriculture sector and people associated with it.
