NIA books Zakir Naik for promoting terror activities, giving hate speeches

New Delhi : The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday filed a 1000-page chargesheet in a special court in Mumbai against controversial preacher Zakir Naik for allegedly inciting youth for terror activities and giving hate speeches.
The chargesheet 85 witness statements made under Section 161 in the Code Of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).
Among the most indicting statements against Zakir Naik is the one made by Naik's sister Nailah Noorani who has confessed that her brother was using her as a tool in a company set up by him, PTI reported.
The other damaging statement against Naik comes from Amir Gazdar, a close aide of the controversial Islamic preacher.
NIA has booked Naik under IPC Sections 120 B for criminal conspiracy; 153 A for promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, language; 295 A for deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings, 298 for utterances (speeches) with deliberate intent to wound the religious feelings of any person; 505 (2) for statements creating, promoting enmity, hatred, ill-will between classes.
Zakir Naik has been also been booked under Section 10 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) for being a member of an unlawful association.
