Bihar : The elections for the upcoming President of India are set to happen and the nominations for the same can be filed by June 29.

A lot of speculations were being made about Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar going for the race to win the polls. On Monday, he denied all such reports and cleared that he will not be competing this time for the President post.

Nitish Kumar has made the statement on the sidelines of his weekly public outreach program.

Recently, Election Commission had announced the dates for the poll. The country’s highest constitutional post are scheduled be held on July 18 and the counting for it will take place on July 21.

Current President Ram Nath Kovind's five year tenure is scheduled to end on July 24, 2022. According to Article 62 of the Indian constitution, the post is to refilled on the basis of an election.

According to EC, the total value of votes for all MPs combined is 5,43,200 and States is 5,43,231.
