To combat air pollution ODD-EVEN rule returns in Delhi: Check dates
New Delhi : To battle smog in the national capital, the Delhi Government is bringing odd-even traffic rule back from November 13 to 17.The Supreme Court appointed body and Lt Governor notified Delhi government to prepare for the third phase of odd even traffic rules and make all the necessary arrangements for smooth execution.
The formal announcement on this will be made by evening after Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot concludes meeting with the concerned officials.
"Air pollution in Delhi has crossed the severe level. That's why we are bringing back the odd-even scheme," Gahlot told media here.
He said that modalities of the road rationing scheme are the same as before with similar timings and exemptions.
"We don't have a lot of time left to design the whole programme, hence we are going with the rules that were imposed in the previous two phases," he said.
The Supreme Court appointed environment body EPCA and the Delhi Lt. Governor on Wednesday instructed the Delhi government to stay prepared to roll out the odd-even car rationing scheme, with air pollution levels rising alarmingly.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal re-tweeted posts by media houses saying the odd-even will kick in from November 13. Government officials said that modalities of the road rationing scheme are being worked out.
