Patna : A Patna-Delhi SpiceJet flight (Boeing 737-800) made an emergency landing soon after taking off from Patna after one of its engines caught fire. According to preliminary reports, the engine of the plane was apparently hit by a bird after which it stopped working.

The plane was carrying 180 passengers on board, no reports of injury or casualty have been received till the time of filing this report.

A video shared by news agency ANI on Twitter showed people deboarding the plane after it made an emergency landing in Patna.

SpiceJet has been criticized several times for not being strict on safety of its flight passengers. In April, DGCA had imposed a ban on approximately 90 SpiceJet pilots from flying Max aircraft after it was found that they were not properly trained.

It was found that their training was done on a faulty simulator, which could have put the safety of many passengers in danger.
