New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Japanese counterpart on Thursday laid the foundation stone for India's dream bullet train at Sabarmati Railway Station. The upcoming train will run between Mumbai and Ahmedabad, here are seven interesting facts about the track and train:

1: The estimated cost of 506-Km-long Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed train project is estimated to be Rs 1,10,000 crore. Japan is giving India a loan of Rs 88,000 crore with a minimal interest of Rs 0.01 per cent with a repayment timeline of 50 years.

2: On the railway track, the train will travel 21 kms through tunnels out of which 7 kms will be under the sea.

3: Over 90 per cent of the track is elevated, six per cent is under tunnel and rest remains on the flat ground.

4: The train will come with a capacity of ferrying about 700 passengers in one go.

5: On the route, the train will have a total of 12 halts, including Mumbai, Thane, Virar, Boisar, Vapi, Bilimora, Surat, Bharuch, Vadodara, Anand, Ahmedabad and Sabarmati.

6: With halt at each station, the train will cover one side of a journey in approximately 2 hours and 56 minutes.

7: The average speed of the train would be 320 kms per hour while the maximum speed has been restricted to 350 kms.
