Traveling in Shatabdi Express may get cheaper

New Delhi : For better utilisation of resources, the Indian Railways is planning to slash fares of premium train service Shatabdi Express on low occupancy routes, said a senior official.

A total of 25 Shatabdi Express trains are likely to get benefited with the implementation of new fares. 

"Indian Railway is actively working on a proposal in this regard," the official told PTI 

The formula is tried and tested. Last year, Indian Railways had done a pilot test on two trains, resulting in growth of earning by 17 per cent and passenger bookings by 63 per cent.

The Indian Railways currently operates 45 Shatabdi trains daily on different routes.
