New Delhi : Aam Aadmi Party clinched Punjab in an unexpected manner, defeating Congress in its own turf. Till yesterday, it was hard to imagine Congress facing defeat in Punjab, it has become a reality today. Let's talk about the factors which worked against Congress.

It all started with the inner tussle that became visible to the outer world. There are internal differences among leaders of all parties, but when Captain Amarinder Singh announced his resignation from Congress it was the beginning of the downfall for the party in the state.

Another mistake done by Congress was to come up with a new Chief Minister just four months before the crucial Assembly Elections in the state. The worse happened when the newly elected state Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu was found fighting with the newly elected Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi.

The result of those tussles are now out; all three Captain Amarinder Singh, Charanjit Singh Channi and Navjot Singh Sidhu lost the elections on their seats in Punjab.

If we roll back a couple of months, Congress was the strongest party in the state; but their end time decisions and attached uncertainty left them with nothing but humiliation.
