Woman argues Union Minister after her flight gets delayed due to VVIP movement

New Delhi : A woman doctor missed funeral of a close relative after her flight was delayed due to VVIP movement. President Ram Nath Kovind was supposed to land on the airport because of which airspace was closed for other flights.

Union Minister KJ Alphons, who was at the airport to receive Mr President, became the target of grieving woman's ire. She was seen pleading to the minister that please make sure it’s her flight that takes off first after the VVIP movement is done.

While due to security rules, no one could help the woman, the low cost airlines did their best to ensure that the woman reaches her destination on the same day.

The woman had booked a connecting flight ticket to Patna. First via IndiGo's Imphal-Kolkata flight and then GoAir flight from Kolkata to Patna; it was for sure that she would miss the second flight on reaching late.

She was on the tarmac in Imphal, waiting to board the plane, when another plane landed carrying, among others, ministers Suresh Prabhu, Jayant Sinha and KJ Alphons. When Alphons saw the grieving lady, he walked towards her and reassured that her flight will take off soon.

An IndiGo spokesman said: "IndiGo Flight 6E-202 was delayed for more than two hours for airspace closure... This resulted in her missing the GoAir Kolkata-Patna flight." Airlines then came together to ensure Sinha reached Patna despite missing her connecting flight. "IndiGo (airport) staff informed its Kolkata airport manager that the lady should be put on any available flight to Patna. Once she landed in Kolkata, an IndiGo airport official bought the ticket of a Patna-bound SpiceJet flight. GoAir gave her a full refund... and she flew to Patna," said the IndiGo official.
