LK Advani likely to be President of India, major political roles he played in his career

New Delhi : With a mega win in Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections 2017, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has cleared its intention on making LK Advani as the next President of India. This could be the biggest responsibility he would assume in his political career. Let's look at the major roles he has played so far:

1: Lal Krishna Advani, a BJP senior leader, served as deputy Prime Minister of India from 2004-2008. He had to face tough time during his tenure due to internal disturbances allegedly led by Pakistan.

2: He also served as Minister of Home Affairs in the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance government from 19 March 1998 – 22 May 2004.

3: Mr. Advani was leader of opposition in the 10th and 14th Lok Sabha.

4: He was Minister of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions from 29 January 2003 to 21 May 2004 under the leadership of Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

5: For a short tenure LK Advani was allotted responsibility as Minister of coal and mines.

LK Advani had joined Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in 1942. It has been learned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is adamant on making him the President of India.
