'Rejected Wrongly': Tej Bahadur Yadav on failed Lok Sabha Election 2019 nomination

Varanasi : Samajwadi Party Lok Sabha Election 2019 candidate from Varanasi Tej Bahadur Yadav, a former BSF jawan, on Wednesday claimed that his nomination has been 'rejected wrongly', reports news agency ANI. All necessary evidence was provided to the Election Commission even though the nomination has been rejected, he said.

"I was asked to produce the evidence at 6.15 pm yesterday, we produced the evidence, still my nomination was rejected. We will go to the Supreme Court," the SP leader said.

His lawyer affirmed that the matter will be dragged to the Supreme Court to claim justice. "We had submitted the evidence that was asked from us. Still, the nomination was declared invalid. We will go to the Supreme Court," Tej Bhadur's lawyer Rajesh Gupta said.

The Election Officer, however, served Tej Bahadur Singh notices pointing out "discrepancies" in the two nominations filed by him.

Earlier on Wednesday, he was blaming the Bharatiya Janata Party of creating a roadblock in his process of filing the nomination. “I had filed my first nomination as an Independent candidate on April 24 and on SP party symbol on April 29. If there were any issues with the nominations, why wasn’t I informed earlier? Despite lack of time, our legal team is furnishing all details to the RO (returning officer),” Tej Bahadur Yadav had earlier said.

Launching a scathing attack on PM Modi, the SP leader had said, “I am being stopped from fighting elections as the ‘nakli chowkidar (fake watchman)’ of the country is afraid of the ‘asli (real) chowkidar’.”

The BJP has not reacted on the matter so far.
