Khichdi is not going to be India's national food
New Delhi : Amid buzzing reports on Khichdi being considered as the national food of India, the government has finally refuted all claims.
Hours after reports of Khichdi being declared as national food for India on November 4 came in, Minister of Food Processing Harsimrat Kaur called all of this ‘fictitious’.
“Enough Khichdi cooked up on a fictitious ‘National Dish’. It has only been put for a record entry in. World Food India will proudly showcase India’s culinary diversity…looks like today has been a slow news day :),” she tweeted.

Khichdi will be promoted as ‘brand India food’ during the three day-long event, ‘World Food India 2017’ organised by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries.
Famous chef Sanjeev Kapoor will be attempting a world record of cooking 800 kgs of khichdi on November 4 at India Gate lawns during the event.
