New Delhi : Punjabi folk festival that is usually celebrated on January 13 every year is known as Lohri. It is celebrated majorly in the North India to commemorate the passing of the winter solstice.

Punjabi and Hindu communities celebrate the occasion a day before Makar Sankranti. Marking the harvesting season in Punjab, Lohri is also called the bonfire harvest festival.

For the celebration of the festival, the people use groundnuts, rewri, peanuts, and popcorns for the pujan. Later these are distributed to the people in the neighbourhood.

Apart from this, the festivities include activities like dancing, singing, and exchanging gifts. Lohri celebration remains incomplete with without various traditional dishes. Below is the list of traditional dishes you can enjoy on Lohri 2020.

Sarson ka saag

Sarson ka saag is one of the most sought Punjabi dishes made during Lohri. The dish is served with butter and Makke ki roti. It has its own health benefits as it is full of anti-oxidants like vitamins A, C, E, and K. That is why eating it can prevent any damage by oxidative stress.
