New Delhi : A new breed of guava is being grown in India that has already started attracting handsome amount to the farmers. The guava is more than double in size of a regular one and can weigh up to 1kg per piece.

Not only it looks beautiful, its taste is another reason the fruit has come into a speedy demand these days. The new breed of Guava has been named BNR BIHI. The price of this guava has been seen between Rs 150 to Rs 370 per kg.

Neeraj, who is a software engineer, left his well-settled job to start farming of this new Guava. He has planted over 1600 trees and earns its fruit twice a year.

He also sell the fruit online at a price of Rs 555 per box; normally there are three pieces in one box weighing between 1600 to 1800 gms.

How is it grown?

Planting the new breed is a difficult task as it requires special attention for its growth and protection. It is mandatory that two plants have a distance of 12 ft in front and 8 ft in side for better growth.

Where to buy the plant?

The breed has been imported from Thailand. Its plant can be purchased from VNR nursery. The company has mentioned its price and information on its website. As per the website, per plant cost is Rs 330. However, it comes down if you buy it in bulk.
