New Delhi : When it comes to weakness, doctors and health experts often prescribe to take multivitamin supplements which provides additional nutrients to our body. But now, a study reveals and contradictory statement to popular belief. Researchers say that common vitamin and mineral supplements provide no health benefit at all.

A study conducted by the St. Michael Hospital, claimed that most common vitamin and mineral supplements taken by people have no benefit such as prevention of cardiovascular disease, stroke, premature death or any other.

The methodical review of existing data and single randomized control and trials published from January 2012 to October 2017 found that multivitamins, calcium, vitamin D, and some other very common supplements have no advantage against prevention of cardiovascular problems and early death.

The researchers found that these multivitamins have very few benefits to provide, which is quite surprising. The study also mentioned that it is only folic acid and B-vitamins that may reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and stroke.

It is always better to take healthy diet rather than depending on multivitamins after knowing that such pills have negligible benefits for our body.

The study and findings is being published in Journal of the American College of Cardiology.
