New Delhi : Indian Railways keep on bringing new changes to offer best of travelling experience to its crores of passengers. Likewise, two big changes have come into effect from April 1, 2019, giving smile on the face of travellers. Scroll down the page to know what the railway department has brought forward in this new financial year.

According to the new railway rules, passengers booking 2 tickets for connecting travel can connect their PNR. This would be beneficial for the passenger to get full refund of their fare if they fail to catch their connecting train in case of late arrival of the first train causing miss of the second train. However, to take advantage of this facility, the Railways have also set some conditions. Accordingly, all the information of passenger in both bookings should be same. Apart from this the first ticket's arrival point and second ticket's starting point has to be the same.

The second big change by Indian Railways is that the passenger can have the facility to change their boarding station. Under this facility, you can change your boarding station four hours before the departure of the railway passenger train. This means that you will be able to change your station before the chart is prepared. On changing the boarding station, the passenger will not have to pay extra fare, but if the change has been made within 24 hours then the refund will not be available. The special feature of this plan is that passengers can change boarding station up to two times.

Passengers can avail the facility of changing boarding station on the Railway Inquiry Number ‘139’. For this, the Center for Railway Information System (CRIS) has started the process of updating the ticketing system.
