New Delhi : To travel across the nations, one requires a passport of a country and an agency has now released a list of 199 nation passports ranking them on the basis of their strongness and weakness, which also impacts on the visa applications applied by the travellers.

The new list of passport ranks has been released by Henley Passport Index 2023. India's rank has rose by 2 places from last year's 87th position to 85th position.

Henley Passport Index measures the strength of all passports around the world, based on how destinations can be accessed by the passport holder for a specific country without pre departure visa application.

As mentioned in the report, Indians can only travel to 59 countries without requiring a visa. Meanwhile, Japan has been ranked on the top position of the index for the 5th year in a row. This means those who hold a Japanese passport can travel to 193 countries without requiring a visa.

Meanwhile, Afghanistan has been ranked the weakest as the citizens can only visit 27 countries without a visa. Pakistan is also among the weakest passports as Pakistani residents can travel to 32 countries without visa requirement.

The US passport has been placed on the 7th place and the Chinese passport has been placed on the 66th place in the index.
