Yusaku Maezawa: A Japanese billionaire, first tourist to Moon

New Delhi : A Japanese billionaire Yusaku Maezawa has been named as the first tourist to the moon, said US private space firm SpaceX.

"The first private passenger to fly around the Moon aboard BFR (Big Falcon Rocket) is fashion innovator and globally recognized art curator Yusaku Maezawa," SpaceX tweeted on Monday.

42-year-old Yusaku Maezawa is the CEO and founder of Zozo, a largest online fashion retailer in Japan. He is also famous for his love for contemporary art with a large collection of work by various renowned painters like Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, Alexander Calder and Jean-Michel Basquiat. 

As per Forbes, Maezawa is the 14th richest man in Japan with a total worth of $3.6 billion.

Born on November 22, 1975, he is expected to take his trip to the Moon in 2023.

About his trip to Moon, Yusaku Maezawa, announced on his Twitter and Instagram accounts that he plans to take a select group of artists with him on his trip around the moon saying: "I choose to go to the Moon, with artists," adding then "What will they see ? What will they feel ? And what will they create ?"
