PV Sindhu most searched player in Google

New Delhi : Search engine giant Google announced Indian ace badminton star and Rio Games silver medalist PV Sindhu as the most searched sportsperson of the year in 2016.

Sindhu pushed big names like MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, and Sachin Tendulkar to hold the top spot.

Not only Sindhu, the women power in Rio Olympics gymnast Dipa Karmakar and Sakshi Malik, also featured among the top 10 trending sportspersons in Google.

Other names who also featured in the list were Indian ODI captain MS Dhoni, Test cricket captain Virat Kohli, legend Sachin Tendulkar badminton player Kidambi Srikanth and Tennis superstar Sania Mirza.

PV Sindhu is the second on the overall list while newly elected US President Donald Trump topped the list.

In 2016 PV Sindhu has had an outstanding season as he clinched the Malaysian Grand Prix Gold title in January and then she lost the final to eventual champion Carolina Marin of Spain in a hard fought match.

Sindhu now becomes a starlet in the history Indian sports alongside Saina Nehwal, Dipa Karmakar, Sakshi Malik, Geeta Phogat, Babita Phogat and Vinesh Phogat.
