New Delhi : Afghanistan and Pakistan match result was a deciding factor on Team India's chances of making it to the Asia Cup 2022 finals and now it is clear that the men in blue are not going to the finals. Afghanistan gave tough competition to Pakistan as the latter won the game in the last over of the match.

Pakistan registered victory against Afghanistan by one wicket in a final over thriller. With this, both Afghanistan and India have been knocked out of the tournament.

Earlier in the day, Pakistan had won the toss and decided to bowl first.

Afghanistan's performance was slow and steady and the team reached 129 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs. Ibrahim Zardan was the top scorer for them with 35 runs. For Pakistan, Haris Rauf was the leading wicket-taker with two wickets.

Chasing the small total, Pakistan did not play as per their potential and lost quick wickets at the start of the game. Iftikhar Ahmed and Shahdab Khan came into play to support their team and set a base for victory. But quick wickets in the death overs once took the game away from Pakistan as they crawled to one-wicket win.

Fareed Ahmad and Fazalhaq Farooqi took the maximum three wickets each for Afghanistan.

Afghanistan paid the price of not having experience of such pressure matches. They lost the game but won hearts with their performance.
