New Delhi : Delhi showcased exceptional performance at the 4th National Amateur Muay Thai Championship held at the Siri Fort Indoor Stadium. The junior team clinched 4 gold and 1 silver medal, bringing pride to the nation, while the senior team secured 2 golds among a total of 5 medals.

The championship was organized by the Capital Association of Muay Thai, Delhi, in collaboration with Fit India. Players from 18 states across the country participated in this prestigious event. The closing ceremony was graced by prominent guests, including Commander Ramesh Sharma (Secretary, DDA Sports), S.R. Bhadoria (Director, Education Department, MCD), Jai Shri (General Secretary, MTFI), and Nitin Arya (Manager, Sports Marketing).

Commander Ramesh Sharma congratulated the winners, emphasizing that their achievements have brought pride to the nation. He highlighted the dedication and hard work required to excel in Muay Thai, a challenging sport. S.R. Bhadoria, Director of Education for the Delhi Government, also commended the winners, reaffirming the government’s commitment to encouraging youth participation in sports. He noted that such events provide a platform for young talents to showcase their abilities.

Narendra Kumar Tyagi, Technical Director of the Muay Thai Federation of India and General Secretary of the Capital Association of Muay Thai, praised Delhi’s stellar performance in the championship. In the senior category, Anuj Dumra and Sukhwinder Singh won gold medals, while Siddharth Varvade and Shashank earned silver. B. Lokesh secured a bronze medal, further enhancing Delhi’s reputation.

In the junior category, Delhi’s team excelled remarkably. Prithviraj, Prakash Bisht, Kabir Khan, and Aradhya Chauhan each secured gold medals in their respective weight classes, while Vedansh Anand won silver.

Tyagi emphasized that this championship represents a significant step toward promoting Muay Thai in India. Originating in Thailand, Muay Thai is a widely popular martial art known for its physical and mental benefits. It strengthens the body, boosts confidence, reduces stress, and serves as an excellent exercise to maintain youth health and fitness.
