Mumbai : Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the upcoming ICC T20I World Cup 2022 after a deep analysis of his back injury. He was earlier sent out of the ongoing South Africa T20I series.

The medical team of BCCI analyzed him for more than a week before officially confirming that his situation is not favourable to allow him to play the game in recent days. Jasprit Bumrah had complained of back pain during the net practice ahead of first T20I against South Africa.

He was then sent for the medical treatment. However, there was news claiming that he will not be able to play for Team India in Australia, coach Rahul Dravid waited for an official word from the medical team before making any comment on his inclusion or exclusion from the team.

BCCI made an official statement on Monday and said that the decision has been taken after a careful assessment of his health.

Due to a minor stress fracture in his lower back, Jasprit Bumrah has been out of the field for about four months since 2019. He also missed the Asia Cup 2022 in UAE.

BCCI secretary Jay Shah has announced that his replacement will be announced soon.
