Fact Check: Milkha Singh not dead due to coronavirus

New Delhi : The Indian sprinter Milkha Singh was diagnosed with coronavirus last month and since then he has been battling with it for survival. Some of the social media users claimed that he has passed away after failing to revive from the attack of virus.

Here are some of the social media posts which claimed that 'the flying Sikh' has passed away.

News Heads checked the news and found out that Milkh Singh is hospitalized and is currently recovering from the coronavirus.

Milkha Singh was admitted to the ICU Covid ward at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, on 3 June.

On June 4, his son had tweeted that his father had to be shifted to the hospital again but that his condition was stable.

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju also refuted the claims and said, "Please don't run false news and create rumors about the legendary athlete and pride of India Milkha Singh Ji. He is stable and let's pray for his fast recovery."
