Chrome for android gets a privacy boost with incognito tab locking
Delhi : The Chrome for Android browser will soon acquire a new feature that lets users lock Incognito tabs when they exit the app, according to American tech giant Google.
A new privacy setting allows users to open these tabs with a screen lock, be it with biometric data, a PIN, or a pattern. This new function is rather simple to use. There will be a prompt on the screen asking you to use your preferred screen unlock method and confirm you have access when Chrome is opened and a user wishes to use the Incognito tabs after the phone has been locked. The public tabs will continue to be accessible to everyone.
For devices shared by several users, the capability is very helpful if one doesn't want the other users to know what is being browsed. The ability to have distinct profiles for different users is now the closest Chrome for Android has come.
Google claimed the functionality is still going out, so some customers may have to wait a little while to access it. For Data Privacy Day, which is tomorrow, January 28, the company shared some advice on how to use Chrome safely along with the update.
