New Delhi : Google has redesigned its news website - Google News - with a new age look with the company-wide "Material Design" guidelines.

With light grey background and white cards around each story, Google News new design comes in resemblence to Google Now. A special attention has been given to the space but with a compromise on the amount of information.

According to a report, Google says the airier design is "designed for readability" and will make it easier to scan stories.

Base structure of the websute has been kept constant with added customisable tools. The left vertical coloumn can now be customised as per user requirement.

Google is highlighting its "Fact Check"  labeling program with a new block in the right column that will show "the top fact checked articles recently published."

Story Card concept is similar and will still expand to provide users with more of news articles from the authentic source.

While the Google News new design seems more promising, the Google News old design was based on the red and white theme like GMail and Google Calendar. The old design dates back to 2011.
