India overtakes USA to become number 1 on Facebook: Report

New Delhi : India overtook the United States of America to grab number one spot and become a country with largest audiences on Facebook, claims a report.

As of July 13th, India has 241 million potential active users, compared to 240 million in the USA. 

The change in rankings came after Facebook recently announced that the platform now has over 2 billion users, mentioned a report by The Next Web.

The new figures suggest that users in India are growing at twice the speed as of the United States of America.

Active users in India are up 27 percent in the past six months alone (+50 million), compared to growth of 12 percent (+26 million) in the United States over the same period.
