New Delhi : Instagram chief Adam Mosseri on Friday condemned Russia's decision to ban the social network that will cut off 80 million Russians from the world.

The ban was announced after Meta's decision to allow posts with call for violence against Russia. Following which, Russia notified that Instagram will be non-operational from Monday onwards.

Adam wrote on Twitter: "On Monday, Instagram will be blocked in Russia.  This decision will cut 80 million in Russia off from one another, and from the rest of the world as ~80% of people in Russia follow an Instagram account outside their country. This is wrong."

Meanwhile, companies like TikTok and Netflix have also banned their services in Russia. TikTok has said that its users from Russia will no longer be able to post or do live stream on TikTok. They will also not be able to see videos shared from other parts of the world.
