Delhi : In addition to replicating Twitter/X in several ways, Instagram's Threads app also includes hashtags, a feature that has long been a part of the Twitter experience. Threads will start testing the feature of tagging themes to group postings by subject or interest, according to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg. The “#” sign will be used by users to access the tags functionality, but it won't really show up when the tags are shown. Rather, the tags will show up as blue links that may be clicked.

The Threads team will refine the experience based on user input after the test's initial start in Australia, the business informs TechCrunch. Zuckerberg stated in his statement that other nations would be allowed to test tags "soon."

To utilize the new tags, either input the symbol on your keyboard followed by text or hit the new # button in the Threads app. You may start typing and have other tags show up to help you autocomplete your tag or you can start from blank and create a new tag. Anybody may click on the tag to view more similar articles on the same subject after you select it and publish your post. Put otherwise, they function similarly to Twitter's hashtags but lack the sign as the prefix, making them a little more refined.

Unlike X, Threads only permits one tag to be applied to a post at a time; this is probably a move the firm took to reduce spam. Spammers frequently over-stock articles with popular and trending tags in an attempt to increase search engine visibility. If not for the spam problem, adding several tags to a post has turned into a rather awkward practice because it seems like attention-seeking behavior.

Additional information about Threads

An upgrade to Threads earlier this week allows users to cancel their accounts without ever leaving Instagram. Users could choose not to have their posts appear as suggestions on Facebook and Instagram with the same upgrade. In related news, filters have been added to the Activity tab of the Threads online version as of today.
