TikTok rating on Google Play Store rises to 1.6. Explained how?

New Delhi : Social Media application TikTok saw dark days on Google Play Store after its ratings came down to 1.3 from 4.5 in matter of a couple of days. It all started with the Carryminati's YouTube vs TikTok video, following which the latter had to face a huge backlash. Several thousand users gave it 1-star rating and negative feedback. However, within a day, the rating for the application on Google Play Store had improved to 1.6.

According to a news report, it has been learned that Google deleted several reviews on TikTok app listing; because of which its ratings increased from 1.3 to 1.6. As per a tweet by a Twitter user Norbert Elekes, the number of reviews went down from 28 million when the rating was at 1.2, to 27 million when the rating was seen at 1.6.

There was no mention on why would Google delete comments on the app listing page.

"Keeping people on TikTok safe is a top priority and we make it clear in our Term of Service and Community Guidelines that clearly outlines what is not acceptable on our platform. As per the policy, we do not allow content that risks safety of others, promotes physical harm or glorifies violence against women. The behaviour in question violates our guidelines and we have taken down content, suspended the account, and are working with law enforcement agencies as appropriate,” TikTok spokesperson had said earlier.
