Wear OS 4 beta update possibly coming to Pixel watch, reveals Google's slip-up
Delhi : This evening, Google accidentally revealed the existence of a Pixel Watch TWD4.230609.006.B2 build. This is Wear OS 4, an update to Wear OS 3.5 and Android 11 that is based on Android 13. To be clear, neither Google nor an image have released Wear OS 4 to stable consumer devices. The Android Beta Programme for watches, which we saw last week, may instead include this as the initial preview version.
A Wear OS 4 beta OTA update should be sent to your Pixel Watch if you register your device on google.com/android/beta, much like with smartphones. Google appears to have started the preview of TWD4.230609.006.B2 too soon by disclosing it when the sign-up process is still not operational.
Only a small subset of Wear OS 4's fundamental changes have been described by Google, such as the ability to move data and settings between watches, power savings, faster speech-to-text conversion, and some new health features. Additionally, a Watch Face Format is coming.
The Galaxy Watch can switch phones running Wear OS 4 without having to reset; here is a preview.
A look within the Wear OS 4 emulator (TWD3.230425.001.E2) that Google made available to app developers in May reveals that Dynamic Colour will soon be used to theme Quick Settings and numerous app buttons. It's unclear what else Wear OS 4 will alter on the Pixel Watch.
