Delhi : WhatsApp added the Chat Lock function earlier this year to improve the security of private discussions. WhatsApp introduced a new feature yesterday called "Secret Code," which adds another level of security to encrypted conversations. By enabling customers to create a unique password that is different from their phone unlock code, this feature strengthens the confidentiality of private talks. Mark Zuckerberg announces that WhatsApp is "rolling out secret code to Chat Lock so you can protect your chats with a unique password."

Users can choose to hide the locked chat folder from the chat list so that users can only access it by typing in the secret code in the search field. Alternatively, users can leave the folder in the chat list if they would rather not have it hidden. Users no longer need to navigate into chat settings to lock a new chat; instead, they can simply tap and hold the selected chat.

WhatsApp said it was happy with the community's response to "Chat Lock" and that the addition of "Secret Code" will make it even more useful. In the upcoming months, the feature will expand globally and is currently accessible.
