Washington : The second wave of coronavirus is not slowing down and its adverse effects can be seen in the form of travel ban imposed by several nations on India. The United States of America on Thursday reissued travel advisory, asking its citizens not to travel to India amid surge in coronavirus cases.

More than 300,000 daily cases are being registered daily in India from past two weeks. The hospitals have been continuously alarming the shortage of oxygen and ICU beds to treat infected people.

"Do not travel to India due to COVID-19. Exercise increased caution due to crime and terrorism," the State Department said on Wednesday in its latest travel advisory that looked identical to the one issued on April 28.

Both travel advisories have been marked to Level 4, which is the highest warning level.

On April 28, the Department approved the voluntary departure of family members of US government employees.

On May 5, the Department approved the voluntary departure of non-emergency US government employees.

"US citizens who wish to depart India should take advantage of available commercial transportation options," it said.

Meanwhile on Thursday, India has registered its new peak in daily coronavirus cases with 4.12 lakh new patients getting diagnosed with the COVID-19 infection. The nation also reported 3,780 deaths in 24-hour interval.
