Ecuador woman, dead from coronavirus, comes to life after three weeks

New Delhi : An Ecuador woman was pronounced dead by a hospital, following which her family cremated her body and did the rituals; but shockingly, the woman came back to life after three weeks. Well, it is not a miracle but a silly mistake by the hospital staff.

Alba Maruri, 74, was hospitalized in March in Guayaquil (an Ecuadoran city), after she complained of fever and trouble breathing. She was diagoned with Coronavirus.

She remained unconscious for three weeks after which she was declared dead by the doctors on March 27. Her family was informed and shown the corpse, but to make sure the virus transmission does not take place the family was not allowed to come close or touch the body. Only her back was visible to them.

“I was a meter and a half away. She had the same hair, the same skin tone. She even had a wound like one my aunt had recently,” a relative told AFP.

Her body was later cremated at a funeral home.

Maruri gained consciousness on Thursday and asked doctors to call her family.

"The doctors went to my aunt’s house to corroborate and inform them of the mistake," said another relative to the news agency.

Though the family is delighted to hear the news, it has been learned that they are now planning to sue the hosiptal in order to recover the cremation fee they paid.
