TikTok CEO Kevin Mayer's full message after India bans the app

New Delhi : ByteDance COO and TikTok CEO Kevin Mayer posted a message for company's employees in India after the government banned it with 58 other Chinese application pointing security threat and data breach concerns.

Mayer's comments come a day after TikTok went completely offline in India where it had around 200 million users. Meanwhile, 2000 TikTok employees have also gone into tizzy after sudden decision of government.

After the ban on TikTok and 58 China apps, India head Nikhil Gandhi had said the company did not share user data with the Chinese government. He also stressed that TikTok placed the highest importance on user privacy and integrity.

At TikTok, our efforts are guided by our commitment to democratizing the internet. To a large extent, we believe we have been successful in this effort. Our platform has encountered an unfortunate challenge in India. However, we stay resolved and committed to our mission, and are working with stakeholders to address their concerns. TikTok continues to comply with all data privacy and security requirements under Indian law and places the highest importance on user privacy and integrity.

Since 2018, we have worked hard to ensure that over 200 millions users in India are able to express their joy and creativity, celebrate self-expression, and share experiences with a growing global community.

TikTok has enabled hundreds of millions of users to enjoy the creative works of artists, storytellers, educators and performers from across the country who have forged new avenues of livelihood improvement. While sharing their skills and talents on a global stage, these performers, artists and entertainers have received opportunities for brand promotions and associations that were once considered the exclusive domain of film stars and sports celebrities.
