NCERT suggests opening of schools in green and orange zones
New Delhi : The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) on Tuesday suggested opening of schools in green and orange zones for classes 8-12.
The suggestions were made after the council after the Union Human Resource Development Ministry asked to set-up a task force which will work on the reopening of the schools in India.
According to the recommendations, children up to Class 7 will not be brought in to schools till the lockdown is lifted completely, as concerns over their health and safety remain.
According to a source familiar to the matter, it is being discussed that it is not possible for students to maintain social distancing hence they should not be asked to attend schools.
Infact, schools will be asked to completely sanitize their premises on regular basis with the attending students asked to wear masks.
Even while travelling to schools, parents and schools must ensure that the safety of students is not endangered.
When asked about when schools are likely to reopen, the source said that this decision will only be taken by the HRD Ministry, which is now studying the proposal presented by the NCERT.
