Karan Oberoi, accused of rape, breaks down in court

Mumbai : TV actor Karan Oberoi, alleged of raping and blackmailing a woman, who was sent to police custody till May 9, broke down into tears during the court proceedings on Monday (May 6). 

The girl mentioned in the FIR that he had raped her and filmed the act, she also alleged him of demanding money from her threatening to release the video if she did not pay up.

As mentioned by the woman, the actor was in relationship with her since 2016 and raped her on the pretext of marrying her.

The FIR was registered at Oshiwara Police Station in Mumbai under sections 376 (rape) and 384 (extortion) of the Indian Penal Code against Oberoi. According to a report the two met in 2016 via a dating app.

The woman had in October 2018 filed a non-cognisable complaint (NC) against the actor accusing him of using her financially, while Karan too filed a complaint against her for mental harassment ten days prior to her complaint, reports The Time of India.

Actor Karan Oberoi made a debut on television with Mahesh Bhatt's show Swabhimaan wherein he was cast opposite Rinku Karamakar. He is also known for his acts in Saaya, Dishayen and Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahi.
