Aadhaar card mandatory for train ticket booking: All you need to know

New Delhi : Amid debates whether Aadhaar card should be made mandatory or not, Indian Railways had made it compulsory to fill Aadhaar Card number while reserving a seat on a train in India.

A report by India.com mentioned that it is not only in railway reservation, you will need Aadhaar while renting a house too. It will be needed in both the cases for a verification process.

On the railway reservation form, a special column for filling Aadhaar Card has been printed. Also, in the newly revised form, passengers, while booking sleeper class tickets in premium trains such as Gareeb Rath and Duranto Express, will have to mark their choice about the requirement of bedroll in the reservation form itself.

Additionally, a column for medical assistance has also been incorporated in the form for the passengers who want special medical facility during their journey.
