BJP slams Farooq Abdullah over threats to boycott Lok Sabha Polls
New Delhi : Bharatiya Janata Party's general secretary Ram Madhav slammed Farooq Abdullah over threats to boycott the upcoming 2019 Lok Sabha and assembly polls.
"Farooq Abdullah has always played politics and done nothing to ensure democratic rights of the people," news agency quotes Ram Madhav.
On Saturday, Veteran leader from Jammu and Kashmir Farooq Abdullah said that his party will boycott the general elections and state elections if the centre doesn't make its stand on the controversial Article 35A in Jammu and Kashmir clear.
"We will not only boycott Panchayat elections but also Lok Sabha and assembly elections if the centre doesn't clear its stand on Article 35A and Article 370," Mr Abdullah said on Saturday.
Article 35 which bans people coming from outside from owning a property in Jammu and Kashmir has been challenged in the Supreme Court.
Last week, the apex body has deferred hearing of the case till January 2019.
Article 370 is an extension of Article 35A that allows the state its own constitution, flag and the right to handle its own laws except on matters that impact national security.
