New Delhi : Delhi on Friday reported 3009 new coronavirus cases and 252 deaths in the last 24 hours, with a positivity rate of 4.76%. This was the first time since April 4 when positivity rate in Delhi fell below 5%.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared Covid positivity rate below 5 per cent to be within the safe zone. With this the Delhi government will now be under pressure to relax or lift lockdown which has been in place for over three weeks now. Medical experts have held the lockdown as the main factor behind the dip in daily cases amid the second wave of the pandemic, PTI reported.

The number of daily cases recorded in the past 24 hours is also been the lowest since April 1.

The total number of active coronavirus cases in the national capital has dropped below 36000, lowest since April 11. The recovery rate in the city is at 95.85 per cent while the death rate stands at 1.62 per cent.

Till date, Delhi has recoreded 14,12,959 Covid cases and 22,831 deaths since the outbreak in early 2020.
