New Delhi : Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Tuesday resigned from his post, dismissing charges by CBI in the excise policy scam. He claimed that he is a victim of a conspiracy of coward and weak people.

The resignation came within 48 hours of his arrest in the liquor scam. In the resignation letter submitted to CM Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodiya launched attack on Bharatiya Janata Party and claimed that the allegation of corruptions have been levelled by the people who are scared of Arvind Kejriwal's politics.

In the resignation letter he mentioned, "I worked for 8 years with honesty but now corruption allegations are levelled against me. I know God knows these allegations are false. This is nothing more than the conspiracy of those people who are scared of Kejriwal’s politics. You (Kejriwal) are their target, not me because people of the country are looking up to you as a leader who has a vision for the country."

“Several FIRs have been registered against me and more are in the offing. They left no stone unturned to ensure that I leave you. I was threatened and even offered bribe, but I did not relent. As a result, they arrested me for not bowing before them… I am not scared of their jails and am not the first person to be arrested for following the path of truth. I have read countless stories of people who fought against the British and were jailed on false charges. Some were even hanged till death,” he said.

Manish Sisodiya also claimed that people in Delhi and other parts of India consider Arvind Kejriwal as the man of hope as he does not give Jumlas and does what he says.

Meanwhile, after Manish Sisodias resignation, his portfolios will be handled by RK Anand and Kailash Gahlot. Talking about the departments Manish Sisodiya was handling are Finance, Planning, Public Work Department, Power, Home, Urban Development, Irrigation, Flood Control, Education, Health Land & Building, Vigilance, Services, Tourism, Art, Culture & Language, Labour, Employment and Industries.

Manish Sisodia was arrested by CBI on Sunday evening over alleged corruption in formulation and implementation of naive scrapped liquor policy of 2021 22. He was presented before a special court in Delhi on Monday which granted 5 days CBI remand in the case. Mr Sisodiya later move to Supreme Court seeking bail but the code rejected his demand and said that they should reach the High Court first.
