Pattern of coronavirus discovered, how authorities plan to combat it after lockdown ends

New Delhi : While there has been a sharp spike in the number of positive coronavirus cases and deaths in India, the authorities have noticed that more than 80 per cent of the cases accounts to 62 districts on which restrictions are likely to continue even after the lockdown ends on April 14.

Till date, 274 districts in India have reported the positive cases of coronavirus, which stands at 3577 (274 cured, 83 deaths).

"There is a clear geographical skew in the spread; 62 districts are currently reporting over 80 per cent cases and these will be the focus for aggressive containment strategy in the Bhilwara model. We are also stepping up testing. In the last two days the tests were doubled, in the next few days we will again double," Financial Express quoted a source.

According to the report, the areas which have reported most number of coronavirus cases will be completely sealed off under the government's proposed "Bhilwara model".

Meanwhile, ICMR has rejected several claims made in researches and studies that coronavirus may be airborne.

“If this was an airborne infection, not droplet infection, every person in a family would be infected; the same would apply for other patients in a hospital. But we have not seen any evidence of that happening so far. There have been one million cases the world over, and no such instance has been found. I think we should trust that evidence,” said Dr R R Gangakhedkar, head of epidemiology and infectious diseases, ICMR.
