New Delhi : Amid rising number of bog bite cases in the city, Ghaziabad administration has passed the order to ban Pitbull, Rottweiler and Dogo Argentino dog breeds as pets. A set of other guidelines have also been issued in the regards.

From November 1, if anyone wants to pet a dog then he/she will have to take a license from the civic authority. No family will be allowed to pet more than one dog.

In the newly issued guideline, it has also been mentioned that the pet owners living in a high rise building can only take their dogs via service lift, also making sure they wear a muzzle while in the public.

The decision has come days after a number of dog biting people cases came to light. The pet-owners have been asked to obtain the pet license within two months.

According to a news report, three breeds - Pit Bull, Rottweiler and Dogo Argentino – have been tagged as ferocious (khoonkhar) and no license will be issued to keep these dogs as pet.

For people, who already own these breeds they will have to get them sterilized within two months.

All zonal officers of of the GMC have been instructed to issue notices to pet-owners to inform them about the rules and regulations passed in the board meeting.

Meanwhile, for stray dogs, the people have been designated fixed places where they can be offered food and other stuff.

Earlier, the Kanpur Municipal Corporation (KMC) and the Panchkula Municipal Corporation banned the pitbull and rottweiler breeds of dogs as pets within the city limits.
