RBI official steals printed currency worth Rs 90 lakh
Dewas : An official of Bank Note Press (RBI) in Dewas district of Madhya Pradesh has been found stealing printed currency worth Rs 90 lakhs.
Accused Manohar Verma, a deputy control officer, stole money by hiding it in shoes, clothes and even office drawer. Rs 26 lakhs have been recovered from the office and remaining Rs 64 lakhs were found hidden at his residence.
The security, after raised doubts, put him under CCTV watch and caught him red handed on Thursday night when he was again attempting to steal some money.
Verma was stealing currency notes which were rejected due to minor faults. He could have used them in market easily as the defects are so minor that it can be easily skipped by unknown people.
Verma and his family has been handed over to the police and Reserve Bank of India has been informed about it.
More people are suspected to be involved in such incident. A case has been registered with investigations underway.
