New Delhi : Aadhaar Self-Service Update Portal: Did you just move to a new residential address? Need to update your new address on Aadhaar Card? Well, now this can be done with a few easy steps from the comfort of your home. The UIDAI has launched a new online service that allows a valid Aadhaar Card holder to put an update address request with some simple clicks.

The new online tool or service - Aadhaar Self-Service Update Portal - allows users to change or modify their personal details like Address, Mobile number, Email id and more.

"Mobile number is mandatory to receive a password for login," according to the UIDAI website - uidai.gov.in. The mobile number is the one which had been produced at the time of registration of Aadhaar card.

Steps to update personal details on Aadhaar Card:

1: Visit UIDAI website and click 'Update Aadhaar Details (Online)' tool.

2: Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar Card number followed by an OTP number on your registered mobile number.

3: After entering essential details click on 'Login' button.

4: Select the field you want to update and fill the new details. (Note: "Ensure that your information is transliterated correctly in the local language. The English spellings in the local language boxes may be modified to get the local language spelling correctly...," according to the UIDAI website.)

5: Check details carefully and proceed on the next page to upload a supporting document issued by the government.

6: At the end of submission, a URN or Update Request Number is issued to track the status of application.

Documents required to validate your request:

A valid official document received from the government office is mandatory to process your request for updating the personal details. Here is a list of documents which are eligible:

Passport, bank statement/passbook, statement of post office account/passbook, ration card, voter ID, driving license, water bill and telephone landline bill, according to the UIDAI website. The bills for water, telephone and electricity must not be older than three months, it noted.

Some other eligible documents include government photo ID cards/service photo identity card issued by PSU, property tax receipt (not older than one year), credit card statement (not older than three months), insurance policy, pensioner card, income tax assessment order, vehicle registration certificate (RC) and registered sale/ lease/rent agreement.
