Nothing makes you feel better than helping someone, says Seema Singh

New Delhi : It is said 'there is no exercise better than reaching down and lifting people up'. If you are able to help others then you should definitely do so. In a brief chat with Ms. Seema Singh Mumbai based social entrepreneur, she touches upon what it feels like to help others.

Today your NGO Meghasrey is quite well-known among the society and is doing a great job for the underprivileged people. What is your thought on it?

Well, I cannot be more than happy and blessed at the same time that I am capable of helping so many people. My NGO is trying to provide a better life to those who can’t afford it and for this we are working as a team together every day so that we can help as many people as possible.

Your NGO has a beautiful name Meghashrey, how did you come up with this name?

Well, I wanted the name to be meaningful and at the same time close to my heart as well. So basically the name of the NGO is based on my children. Megha is my daughter’s name and shrey is my son’s name and this is how I came up with the name for my NGO.

Talking about your children, what are there and your family’s take about the work that you do, how much support do you get from them?

I would say I am quite lucky in this context. I have a very supportive family and friends. My children and family both are very happy and proud of the work that I do and they do actually me with my work. Both of my children are active members of my NGO.

You have received a number of prestigious awards for the work that you have been doing. How does it make you feel?

I feel very overwhelmed at times when I look back to these awards and the work that I have been doing. I never thought of getting an award for helping others, so at times I feel a little proud of myself but yeah I take each award as a responsibility. I think if I am awarded with an award then it’s my duty to keep on doing the job that I am doing and just better myself and my work as much as possible.

Lastly, what do you plan on doing next?

Well, I wish to continue with my work in the coming future. I plan to help more people with my NGO, so that I can provide them a better and brighter future.
