CBI officials from New Delhi on Wednesday searched the residences of several persons including Health and Family Welfare Minister C. Vijayabasker and Director General of Police (DGP) T.K. Rajendran in connection with a multi-crore gutkha scam.

DMK President M.K. Stalin on Wednesday asked the Tamil Nadu Governor to sack Health and Family Welfare Minister C. Vijayabaskar and Director General of Police T.K. Rajendran if they don't quit on their own after raids by the CBI.

DMK legislator J. Anbazhagan on Wednesday demanded that Tamil Nadu's Director General of Police (DGP) T.K. Rajendran must quit, after the CBI raided his residence in connection with a gutkha scam.

The Central Bureau of Investigation on Wednesday raided several places in Tamil Nadu, including the residences of Health and Family Welfare Minister C. Vijayabaskar and Director General of Police (DGP) T.K. Rajendran in connection with a gutkha scam, said a CBI official.

The CBI on Wednesday conducted raids at 40 locations in Tamil Nadu in connection with the multi-crore gutka scam in which involvement of state Health Minister C. Vijayabaskar and Director General of Police T.K. Rajendran is suspected.

The CBI on Tuesday told the Delhi High Court that it has completed its investigation into the disappearance of Jawaharlal Nehru University student, Najeeb Ahmed, from "every aspect" and sought permission to file a closure report in the case.

A CBI special court on Friday convicted five persons and sentenced them to jail, including an official of Canara Bank, for five years in a bank cheating case, said the investigating agency.

The Patna High Court on Wednesday again pulled up the CBI for giving an unsatisfactory explanation for the transfer of a CBI officer probing the Muzaffarpur shelter home rape case.

A court here on Tuesday directed the CBI to respond to former Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram's plea wherein he alleged that the agency is not interested in a fair trial in the Aircel-Maxis case as part of the charge sheet was leaked to the media.

The CBI on Monday submitted an 'action taken report' (ATR) in a sealed cover to the Patna High Court on the alleged mass rapes at the Muzaffarpur shelter home.
