Shubam Gill shines as KKR knocks Kings XI Punjab out of IPL 2019

Kolkata : Kolkata Knight Riders on Friday knocked Kings XI Punjab out of the Indian Premier League 2019 as they won the game by seven wickets with the help of stunning performance by Shubham Gill.

Chasing down a good target of 184 runs in just 18 overs, Kolkata Knight Riders' Shubham Gill scored brilliant 65 runs in just 49 balls. Kolkata has now made their net run rate better and may qualify for the semi finals if they manage a good win against Mumbai Indians in the next game.

Earlier, Kolkata Knight Riders won the toss and asked Kings XI Punjab to bat first. Youngsters Sam Curran and Nicholas Pooran displayed belligerence as Kings XI Punjab put on a respectable 183 for 6 in designated 20 overs.

For KKR, fast bowler Sandeep Warrier (2/31) was the most impressive as he removed the opening pair of Chris Gayle (14 off 14 balls) and KL Rahul (2 off 7 balls) in quick succession.

Kolkata Knight Riders are now on the fifth spot of the IPL Points Table and they need a win with good run rate to qualify for the playoffs.

They will play against Mumbai Indians on Sunday.
