New Delhi : Google has announced a new feature in its Pixel 8 Pro with the January update. The standout feature of this update is the incorporation of a body temperature measurement tool, effectively transforming the smartphone into a convenient thermometer.

Since its debut in 2023, the Pixel 8 Pro included a physical thermometer located within its camera band on the rear. Originally designed to measure object temperatures, the recent update expands its capabilities to encompass body temperature readings.

How to measure body temperature with Google Pixel 8?

Google has officially announced the feature, labeling it as "medical-grade" and accessible via the Thermometer app on the Pixel 8 Pro. To gauge body temperature, users can effortlessly scan their foreheads using the phone.

Importantly, direct contact between the phone and the forehead is not necessary; the infrared sensors and the camera's LDAF can precisely detect proximity, triggering the temperature reading.

With Google's acquisition of Fitbit, users can conveniently save temperature readings directly to their Fitbit profiles. This integration offers a seamless means of tracking and monitoring health metrics.

It will be interesting to see if the new update on the device will be able to attract more buyers for the phone or not.
