Google officially launches a website for coronavirus or Covid-19

New Delhi : In a bid to avoid misconceptions floating on social media over coronavirus, Google officially launched a website to inform the public about essential information pertaining to COVID-19 guidance and testing.

The website can be accessed on the URL – https://www.google.com/covid19.

Currently, it is focused only on the United States. The website details resources and links regarding the deadly respiratory illness, and in the next several days, the website will be available in more languages and countries, Google said in a blog post.

Google Blogpost read: "People can find state-based information, safety and prevention tips, search trends related to COVID-19, and further resources for individuals, educators and businesses. Launching today in the U.S., the site will be available in more languages and countries in the coming days and we’ll update the website as more resources become available. Along with our other products and initiatives, we hope these resources will help people find answers to the questions they’re asking and get the help they need."

Last Sunday, Google Chief Executive Sundar Pichai stated in a blog post that in collaboration with the U.S. government, Google would be pushing out an early version of the website by March 16. However, local and national guidance altered significantly the next day and the firm then decided to roll out the website later in the week.
