Delhi : In recent months, WhatsApp has introduced a number of significant new features to its platform. Slightly earlier in November, the messaging platform launched Communities to enhance group chats and raised the 32-person maximum on group video calls. Then, a few weeks later, WhatsApp self-messaging became popular. The service, which is owned by Meta, has now officially announced the launch of avatars on its platform.

The first indications that WhatsApp was considering using Facebook's Bitmoji-like avatars surfaced in July of this year. Then, in October, further information regarding the feature became available as it started to appear on the app's beta channel. An avatar is a fully customized digital representation of yourself with access to various hairstyles, skin tones, clothing, and expressions which makes channelizing the WhatsApp more entertaining.

Following the creation of an avatar, a personalized sticker pack of 36 stickers is generated for use in chats. Instead of using your actual photo as your profile picture, you can choose to use your avatar. On Facebook and Instagram, Meta already lets users create avatars in the Bitmoji style; however, you cannot import the same avatar for usage in WhatsApp.

In WhatsApp announcement it confirm that ,avatars will provide users a "new and personalised method to express" themselves .. The Meta-owned platform will eventually provide more personalization features for avatars, including lighting, shading, different hairstyle textures, and the ability to make multi-character avatar stickers using your friends' avatars.

Avatar use on video calls appeared to be available with WhatsApp, however that is not currently allowed with the present implementation.

WhatsApp is starting to roll out support for avatars today, and most users should have it by the end of the week. From WhatsApp's Settings menu, you may see if the feature is available for your account. If the Avatar option appears, you can design and personalise your avatar however you like.
